Since the end of November, Cumaru Deckingthat are imported into Switzerland must be proven to be of sustainable origin. Many traders fail to provide reliable proof of origin to both German and Swiss authorities and have excluded deliveries of Cumaru wood (Dipteryx Sp.) to Switzerland.
The first Cumaru delivery comes from Betterwood
At Betterwood, we are therefore particularly proud that we have been able to implement the first Cumaru delivery to Switzerland since the high sustainability requirements came into force: a 180 square meter wooden terrace for a commercial building in the canton of Zurich.
This delivery also set a precedent for the authorities on the German and Swiss sides. Processes still had to be set up and documents sometimes had to be handed over in person. In the future, the processes will certainly run more smoothly.
fee for inspections
We very much welcome the stricter forest and species protection regulations, which insist on reliable documents and do not settle for fictitious seals. Unfortunately, the strict controls cost money, which the Swiss customs authorities bill. For every delivery to Switzerland that contains Cumaru, we have to charge a flat rate of 70 euros for the creation of a plant health certificate, which the Swiss Federal Office for Nature Conservation issues after inspecting the goods.
