The background of our Cumaru substructure

The sustainable origin

Our Cumaru decking boards and Cumaru substructure come from FSC®®-certified forests in the Madre Dios region of Peru. Through our Latin American branch, we personally control the quality and independent experts check whether no pesticides are used, biodiversity is preserved and only as much wood is removed as will grow back in the same period. It is also checked whether the lumberjacks and the employees in the sawmill in Lima receive fair wages. The transport from Latin America to our warehouse in Nümbrecht is climate-neutral.

The hardest type of wood

Cumaru is one of the most durable woods in the world. It is used in South America to build bridges and to build jetties in the water. It is therefore also extremely well suited as a stable and durable substructure for wooden terraces. According to the DIN standard, Cumaru is classified in resistance class 1 and thus achieves a minimum service life of 25 years outdoors. Its resilience, resistance and load-bearing capacity allow Cumaru to be used to create particularly durable wooden terraces.

The comprehensive advice

We would be happy to advise you on the construction of your wooden terrace with a substructure made of Cumaru. We'll create one for you laying plan and offer for your wooden terrace. You can also use ours terrace calculator Use it to independently determine your needs in advance. A decking board should be screwed to a substructure every 45-50 cm so that the boards do not warp due to temperature fluctuations. We would be happy to advise you on how the desired assembly height can be achieved with cross battens - a substructure installed one above the other - or adjustable bearings. We also answer many questions in our online consultation.
